Burren hit 4-6 without reply in the opening 18 minutes of the second-half to run out easy 5-12 to 2-11 victors over Mayobridge in tonight's Down SFC semi-final.

The 2011 champions produced a devastating spell after the break to turn a three-point deficit into a fifteen-point lead - 4-11 to 0-8. Half-time substitute Eamonn Toner (2), Liam Kerr and Declan Rooney supplied the goals in the Burren blitz.

It was a result that few saw coming with many giving Mayobridge a big chance of reaching their first Frank O'Hare Cup decider since 2012. The half-time scoreline at Pairc Esler saw the 'Bridge full value for their 0-8 to 0-5 lead.

Trailing by 4-12 to 0-11 in injury-time, the 'Bridge managed a couple of consolation goals. Burren had the final say though when Kerr netted their fifth major.

Burren will be hoping to go one better than last year when they were beaten by Kilcoo who meet Warrenpoint in the second semi-final in Newry tomorrow evening (throw-in 7pm).
