As we bid good bye to 2017 let us remind ourselves about what a year it has been for us. An All Ireland Champion in Scór na nÓg who sang the National Anthem for the All Ireland Ladies' Final in Croke Park Comhchairdeas do Niamh McDowell . It would be remiss of us to forget that our ballad group of Niamh Mc Dowell, Ciara Rooney, Tara Grant ,Aoife Grant and Clodagh Rodgers are the South Down Champions for 2017 and 2018 in Scór na nÓg and that our instrumental group of Peter Doran , Aoife and Dana Leckey , Cara Sloan and Niamh Mc Dowell are South Down champions for 2018. Our Senior Scór team of Donna Feeney, Declan and Sean Grant and Tony Bannon won the Moya McCormack cup for" Spirit of Scór ". Connaire Harrison established himself as a figure on the National Stage with his outstanding displays in the Red and Black of our County as well as our own team in retaining our Division 3 Status. Our young players distinguished themselves playing for the Eire Óg amalgamations with our neighbours Ballymartin a well as for their St. Columban's squad in the Corn Cú Chulainn. Our young ladies were a credit for both the County as well as Ballymartin throughout the season. We are also glad that William James Smith from our Club has represented the County with great distinction in his position as Cultural Officer.
We are fast approaching our 50th anniversary of the reformation of the Club in 1969 and are looking forward to the compilation of a comprehensive history of our Club. Anyone interested in assisting with this project please contact any committee member.
