Donegal manager Ardal McDermott admits that they are massive underdogs against Armagh in tomorrow's Nicky Rackard Cup opener.

The sides meet at the Athletic Grounds at 3.30pm and the home side go into this game on the back of winning the Division 2B title earlier this month.

Donegal were relegated back to NHL 3A for next year and McDermott knows that they need a huge performance to cause an upset on Saturday.

"We are under no illusion at the task we face," McDermott told the Donegal Democrat. "Armagh are the form team. They won the Division 2B beating Down in a play-off and were promoted to 2A.

"They are a fine side and that win over Down was a big win for them. It will be a massive boost to confidence going into the Nicky Rackard.

"Armagh and Mayo are the top two teams in the competition. But it's championship hurling and we all know the championship can throw up a surprise or two."
