Odhran MacNiallais expects today's Ulster SFC final to go to the wire.

Speaking to the Irish News, the Donegal centre forward predicted: "I expect a massive challenge from Monaghan if the last few years are anything to go by. They're now in the top six to eight teams in the country and they play mighty stuff.

"We beat them last year so they'll be out to get us this year. An Ulster final will never be easy so it's just a matter of preparing right. It'll probably be the closest of all the finals we've been in together."

The Gweedore man believes Donegal will need to improve on their semi-final performance against Derry if they're to retain the Anglo-Celt Cup.

"We made plenty of mistakes and it was far from the perfect game. We'll have to improve a lot for Monaghan because they'll be hurting after last year's Ulster final," he added.
