Donegal goalkeeper Michael Boyle has left the squad, while Declan Walsh has returned.

Boyle has opted to spend the summer playing football for Donegal Boston and he has already travelled to the states this week.

The 27-year-old has been understudy to Paul Durcan for a number of years and he will return home in September, which rules him out of the remainder of the inter-county campaign.

However, Walsh's absence has been eased somewhat by the return of the versatile Declan Walsh who opted off the panel at the end of the March, due to work commitments, but has returned in recent weeks.

Speaking about both players, Donegal manager Rory Gallagher told the Donegal Democrat that Boyle would be a loss, while Walsh was a welcome addition.

"While we are disappointed to lose a player of Michael's calibre, it's something we have known for a number of weeks. He has been a very important player in the panel for a long time now. It's an opportunity for Michael and we wish him the best and will welcome him back when the time comes," said Gallagher.

"Declan was very busy with work at the time he opted out but has managed to work his schedule. We're delighted to have him back on board as he's been around the set-up for some time now and know the style of football we are trying to play."
