Naomh Conaill 'not looking for a replay'

Naomh Conaill feel 'exonerated' by the Central Appeals Committee decision that Donegal County Board should re-hear their appeal against the result of their SFC semi-final defeat to Glenswilly.

But they have moved to allay fears that a successful outcome could result in chaos for the local club championship and the Ulster Club SFC.

The Glenties club argued that the referee made an error in allowing Glenswilly replace a player who had picked up yellow and black cards.

They received no joy at county and provincial level so brought their case to Croke Park and the Central Appeals Committee ruled in their favour last Friday night and ordered that a second hearing take place.

Glenswilly were subsequently defeated by St Eunan's in the county decider and the Donegal champions got the better of Roslea of Fermanagh in the Ulster Club SFC quarter-final yesterday.

"We got the decision that we wanted and that was that Croke Park agreed with our appeal," Naomh Conaill chairman Daniel McGeehin explained to The Irish Independent.

"We are not looking for a replay but we do feel that we have been exonerated."
