Ryan McHugh was honoured to bring the Young Footballer of the Year award back to Donegal and Kilcar over the weekend.

The 20-year-old deservedly collected the coveted accolade after a fantastic breakthrough year with the Tir Chonail men, which included stunning championship displays against both Monaghan and Dublin:

"It is great to get this award and I am really delighted and grateful to be chosen," he is quoted in The Irish News.

"It is a great achievement for the McHugh family and for Kilcar, as Paddy McBrearty was also in the running.

"I suppose the real highlight for me was Donegal regaining our Ulster title against Monaghan as a lot of people had written us off, so it was nice to come through.

"And it is always a bit special when you beat the Dubs, so that was quite a pleasant memory also."
