McGee: it was just one of those days

Neil McGee is at a loss to explain Donegal's disappointing All-Ireland final defeat.

The Ulster champions were just a shadow of their usual selves as they fell to a three-point defeat to Kerry in Sunday's decider and inspirational full back McGee struggled afterwards to pinpoint where it had all gone wrong:

"I suppose we didn't really reflect much yet," he tells The Irish News. "It will probably be worse now in a couple of weeks' time when you're sitting in the house on your own, especially when we didn't perform.

"Jim said before the game, regardless of the result, leave it all out. We just did not perform on the day. It was just one of those days.

"The bounce of the ball just went with them, the rub of the green. They were the better team on the day.

"You can't say that they were the hungrier team or that we were hungrier. It's just that they got things right. It's hard to put the finger on it."
