Donegal NY juniors take a loss but head to Semi-final

August 12, 2014
Donegal NY's Juniors came up short Monday evening in a tight, hard fought, well played battle with Manhattan Gaels, 2-7 to 2-12. The five point margin was the largest spread of the match and came in the last few minutes on the Gaels second goal. Up to them both teams were able to only create a three point difference between the sides. The loss leaves the two tied atop the table at 10 points. The Semi Finals on August 20 will see Donegal facing the winner of the Offaly-Rangers playoff tie and the Gaels facing Rockland. Both Offaly and Rangers have already fallen to Donegal. Nothing, of course is assured, but Donegal NY face a far softer challenge on the 20th than the "home" team in the "double" Senior and Minor Semi-finals with Dublin on the 31st. The NY Senior squad were eliminated from the Championship Sunday with their 1-6 to 2-19 defeat by a clearly dominant Cavan side.
