Donegal's impressive recent record of reaching Ulster finals is down to the players, according to Jim McGuinness.

The Tir Chonail men will lock horns with Monaghan at Clones on Sunday - their fourth successive Ulster SFC decider - and McGuinness deflects all the praise for this achievment to the players:

"We are in our fourth final but for the management team and myself it is our fifth final if you include the U21s, and it has been a very special journey," the Glenties man says in The Irish News.

"The reason we have been in these five finals is because of the players. From day one, they have given it everything.

"When you are working hard, you put your social life on hold and your family life on hold, then you hope that results in performances and success.

"We have two Ulster championships and an All-Ireland. We have lost one and hopefully now we can correct that this year and hopefully get over the line."
