Rackard Cup: Donegal and Armagh march on

May 13, 2012
Donegal and Armagh have qualified for the semi-finals of the Nicky Rackard Cup following wins over Monaghan and Sligo respectively.

In Clones, Donegal needed three injury-time points to make sure of a 1-16 to 0-15 victory over Monaghan. The home side led come up to half-time, but a Niall Campbell penalty ensured Donegal of parity at the break, 1-7 to 0-10, and eight points from Lee Henderson helped them prevail.

Armagh justified their favoritism when they comfortably accounted for Sligo on a 1-19 to 0-8 scoreline at Crossmaglen. The result was never in doubt after James King scored the only goal in the 24th minute. This helped the hosts to a 1-13 to 0-2 interval lead, and while both sides scored six points in the second half, Armagh's work was already done.
