HL3A: Henderson guides Donegal to safety
April 16, 2012
Lee Henderson scored 1-6 as Donegal preserved their Allianz Hurling League Division 3A status at Sligo's expense in Brewster Park.
Donegal 2-12
Sligo 0-16
All of the corner forward's tally came in the second half as Donegal recovered from a poor start to relegate their neighbours. With their captain Keith Raymond in fine scoring form, Sligo stormed into a five-point lead inside the first quarter, but a Ronan McDermott goal and two points from Danny Cullen left Donegal just two adrift, 1-3 to 0-8, at the break.
Henderson took centre stage in the second half as Donegal fought back to level 1-9 to 0-12. Raymond restored Sligo's lead, but the momentum remained with the Tir Chonaill men and Henderson's goal 10 minutes from the end sealed their victory.
