Donegal GAA Club Conference

GAA Club and School managers and coaches in Donegal are being given the opportunity to attend a specialised conference in preparation for the upcoming season. The conference titled 'Practical Tools on Injury Prevention, Strength & Conditioning and Psychology for GAA Coaches' is being co-hosted by Donegal County Board and Core Pro Fitness Institute.
Tommy Gallagher, Physical Therapist and Director of Core Pro Fitness Institute says, 'Our idea is to give club and school managers, coaches and anyone interested in the area, practical information on how they can prepare their teams for the upcoming season. We will look at the latest advances in areas of Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation, Strength & Conditioning, and Performance Psychology. Those who attend will then be able to go back to their teams and apply these methods.'
Speakers on the night will be Adam Speer, Kevin Clancy and Tommy Gallagher.
'Adam is currently the Strength & Conditioning Coach with the Donegal Senior Football Team. He has more than 12 years' experience in the area and is an accomplished athlete himself having completed the Ironman in Switzerland in 2011.'
'Kevin is one of the leading Performance Psychologists in the country and has worked with the Cork Senior Football squad since 2009 winning one All-Ireland title and three National League titles. He previously worked with IMG Academies in Florida.'
Tommy continued 'I specialise in Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation and am currently working with a number of Athletes preparing for the London Olympics. I have worked in the Donegal setup in 2010 when the U21's reached the All Ireland Final. I am also studying a Masters in Sports Biomechanics in Teesside University and work with a number of golfers on the European Tour.'

The conference is being run in Jackson's Hotel, Ballybofey on Friday the 3rd of February. Registration and tea/coffee is at 6.30 with the conference beginning at 7pm sharp.
