McEniff never claimed expenses

Louth manager Peter Fitzpatrick with new selector Brian McEniff.
During his term as manager of Donegal, Brian McEniff never even claimed expenses off the county.
At a time when payments to managers are a hot topic, Donegal GAA Auditor Enda Bonner of Bonner, O'Donnell & Company Accountants, who is also the Dungloe representative on the county board stressed that the county have never paid their county managers in both hurling and football.
He even went on to claim that not only did McEniff not receive payment for his role, he didn't even claim expenses, which given the current stance of managers is astonishing.
"We have a long history in the county of not paying managers. Brian McEniff did the job for years and never even claimed expenses," Bonner stressed at last Monday night's County Board meeting.
"Managers in recent years have claimed expenses, but never have been paid for the job."
McEniff guided Donegal to their one and only All-Ireland title in 1992 and was manager of his native county from 1982 to 2007, an incredible 25 years.
