Murphy on the mend

Donegal's Michael Murphy
Donegal forward Michael Murphy has successfully undergone groin surgery.

The Donegal captain is now on the road to recovery after having the keyhole surgery at the Mater Hospital in Dublin on Monday.

Murphy will miss the start of the national football league, but should return midway through the campaign to bolster the Tir Chonaill men's chances of glory in the top flight.

The injury has plagued the All-Star full forward for some time and as the Ulster championship clash against Cavan isn't scheduled until May 20th, Murphy has plenty of time to get fit for that.
