Kevin Cassidy hasn't completely ruled out a return to the Donegal colours.
The All Star defender, who was sensationally axed from Jim McGuinness' squad following controversial remarks he made in Declan Bogue's book 'This is Our Year', hinted that his inter-county career may not be over yet during a conversation with former Kerry star Dara O Cinneide on TG4's Seo Sport programme.
When asked by O Cinneide in Irish if he would miss not being involved with Donegal, Cassidy replied: "We'll see. You never say never, I guess."
Cassidy said he was looking forward to the prospect of Donegal building on last year's Ulster SFC success in the coming season.
"If you think back to the Cork game in 2009, we were beaten by 17 points and again by 11 points by Armagh in 2010 and we said we had to rectify some problems.
"But this year, if a game is tight and you have players like Michael Murphy and Colm McFadden up front, you have a chance of winning. But teams will be waiting for us this year so things have to change a bit, to have self-belief that you can win against the likes of Kerry, Dublin, Tyrone and Armagh is the key.
"Young players are coming through the ranks under Jim McGuinness at U21 so they know our system and if we get a few more good forwards who knows what will happen."
Former Donegal managers Brian McEniff and PJ McGowan - who is county chairman - have both expressed the hope that Cassidy will be restored to the squad.
