Kevin Cassidy has hit back at his former Donegal team-mate and captain Michael Murphy.

In backing manager Jim McGuinness' decision to drop the two-time All Star defender from his squad for comments he made in Declan Bogue's book, 'This Is Our Year', Murphy said on Wednesday: "Kevin stepped out of line and that was agreed by everyone."

But Cassidy replied on the social networking site Twitter: "In life the opinions you express should be your own and you shouldn't be influenced by others."

Following on from that, Cassidy told the Irish Sun: "As far as I was concerned, it's all over.

"I've always said that everyone is entitled to their own opinion but, like I said, I felt it was all over and really it's about time everybody just moved on. I've left the whole thing behind me. I haven't even discussed football for the last few weeks." Tweet
