Ladies cruise into All-Ireland semi

August 13, 2010
Donegal made their way into the All-Ireland Ladies intermediate championship semi-final when they handed Westmeath an emphatic 4-22 to 1-6 defeat at Tyrellspass on Sunday afternoon.

In a completely one-sided encounter, the visitors eased to victory and had the game wrapped up by half-time when they led by 1-14 to 0-2, before hitting three more goals in the second-half through Yvonne McMonagle, Geraldine McLaughlin and Roisin Friel.

Donegal boss Micheal Naughton said afterwards: "The girls played exceptionally well and we are thrilled to be in the semi-final. It was exhibition stuff at times and we had a good spread of scores which was very encouraging and we can't just wait to play the semi-final."

Donegal are now set to meet either Longford or Waterford in the last four of the competition, a game which is set to be played last weekend in August or the first weekend in September.
