McGuinness to be installed tonight

Donegal manager Jim McGuinness
Jim McGuinness is expected to be ratified as Donegal's new football manager tonight.

The Naomh Chonaill clubman's name will be put before a full county board meeting after being the only candidate to succeed John Joe Doherty, who stepped down in the wake of Donegal's tame championship exit at the hands of Armagh.

Peter McGinley, Maxi Curran and Pat Shovlin will form his backroom team and it's understood McGuinness is keen to retain his role as under 21 manager after leading the team to an All-Ireland under 21 final appearance earlier this year.

It's anticipated that the 1992 All-Ireland winner will receive the unanimous support of the 40 clubs in the county to land the job.
