Division 2

MALIN 1-05
GLENFIN 1-08

Glenfin came away from Malin with a deserved win in this top of Division 2 clash and they looked the hungrier side throughout the game and dominated proceedings for large parts, had they taken their chances in the second half then the margin of victory could have been much greater.
Scores from Lee Herron and Michael McGlynn put the visitors 2 ahead in the opening 5 minutes before an Anthony Kelly free opened Malin's account but Glenfin continued to convert their early domination into scores and led by 1-05 to 0-01 midway through the half, the goal coming in the 10th minute when a Hail Mary ball from Gareth Martin was misjudged by Malin keeper Declan Lafferty and dropped into the net. Malin put themselves right back into the game on 18 minutes, somewhat against the run of play, when Damian Harkin found Paul McLaughlin who turned his man before rifling a shot into the top corner but Glenfin continued to press and added scores from Ciaran Moy (2) and Herron to cancel out the Malin goal, two late points from Matthew Byrne and a second Anthony Kelly free leaving the half time score Glenfin 1-07, Malin 1-03.
A Damian Ward point in the opening minute of the second half left just a score between the sides but Malin were unable to reduce the deficit any further for the next 25 minutes, indeed had Glenfin been a little steadier in front of goal then they could have been out of sight, their wide tally for the second half into double figures while Declan Lafferty atoned for his first half mistake by making a great save from Steven McDermott. Anthony Kelly hit his 3rd free of the day with four minutes left before Glenfin eventually broke their second half duck, Ciaran Moy fisting over in injury time to seal the win.

MALIN 2-09
GLENFIN 1-10
Malin reserves held out for a good win in the first game on Sunday, holding off a spirited second half Glenfin revival to claim both points. Goals from Gary Collins and Daniel McDaid helped Malin to a 2-05 to no score lead at one stage and they went in at half time 2-06 to 0-03 ahead. Glenfin hit an early second half goal and dominated with the breeze at their backs but scores from Eddie Kelly, Jason Doherty and Daniel McDaid secured a Malin win, scorers for Malin, Daniel McDaid (1-03), Gary Collins (1-0), Paul McGonagle (0-2), Brian Doherty (0-2), Eddie Kelly, Jason Doherty.

Inishowen U16B Final:
Naomh Pádraig 3-04
Carndonagh 0-17

Naomh Pádraig U16's travelled to Malin on Sunday to take on Carndonagh in the Inishowen Shield final. Carn started strongly and opened up a 3-point lead with an Aidan Cunningham effort getting Naomh Pádraig on the scoreboard. However Muff dominated the following exchanges and hit the front with a Thomas McGarry goal and followed this up with a second goal by Caolan Mailey to give Naomh Pádraig a 2-01 to 0-04 point lead. However Naomh Pádraig could only manage one further point from Darragh McConway while Carn finished the half strongly and managed to pull level to make it Naomh Pádraig 2-02 Carndonagh 0-08 at the break. The second half was just as closely fought with Carn hitting the front however Muff battled back to once again take the lead when a Conor McLaughlin free was fisted to the net by Edward Havlin. Both sides went on to trade further points, Naomh Pádraig's coming from the boot of Conor McLaughlin and Darragh McConway. However as the game entered the final stages, Carndonagh finished strongly and managed to hit 4 unanswered points to win the game on a score line of Naomh Pádraig 3-04 Carndonagh 0-17.

Buncrana GAA Notes
The Buncrana GAA club would like to extend its sincere sympathy to all
those families who were profoundly affected by the Clonmany car crash
on Sunday 11th July 2010.
FUN COMMUNITY SPORTS DAY
This year we have organised a sport's day on Sunday the 25th of July
at 4pm run in conjunction with the Buncrana Music Festival. But we
need your help! We need parents and guardians to help in the provision
of refreshments, by making sandwiches or home baking. Cakes and buns
and general sweet stuff can be left in the clubhouse on Saturday 24th
between 7 - 8pm and sandwiches on Sunday 25th between 11 -12am.
Our children enjoy days such as these and it is an added bonus for
them to have their parents involved. In this way it really is a
family day. The more help we can get from you to make this a success
will mean we can enjoy yearly sports days such as these for years to
come. (We need at least 60 volunteers) If anybody is interested in
helping on the day contact Brian on 086 380 7618 or email

Lately, through Facebook a great deal of interest has been shown in
starting a Buncrana Camogie team. It's great to see such interest in
this greatly undervalued and very enjoyable sport. However, in order
for this interest to materialise into an actual team(s) the club needs
to weigh up genuine interest in the game. So if you are interested in
either sending your children to training and participating in games
from under 8 to under 18 level or (and) playing yourself / coaching /
managing / helping out / refereeing then please register your interest
by emailing [email protected] or even just leave a message on
Facebook.
Thanks to all who took part in the annual sponsored walk in aid of
much needed club funds, the sun shone and it was great to see so many
kids and parents taking part, thanks to the ladies who provided much
needed refreshments, can anyone with outstanding sponsor cards return
them in as soon as possible, to their manager or any committee member.
Our u16 footballers won the Northern board Plate final on Sunday
evening beating MacCumhaills on a scoreline of 5-9 to 2-6
well done to all involved.
There will be a county hurling development camp held on the 22nd and
23rd of July (Thursday and Friday) it is especially for young hurlers
born in the years 1994,'95 and '96, the aim of the camp is to prepare
for up coming All-Ireland blitz's that are due to take place later in
the year. The camp will be held in Letterkenny Gaels pitch from 10am to
2.30pm and it will be up to all players to sort out transport among
their parents for the two day camp. The camp will be hosted by Kevin
Hinphy and Mickey Glover, appropriate clothing and refreshments will
also be needed, any queries contact Donal.
The u12 hurlers made the long trip to Ballyshannon on Thursday last to
play Aodh Ruadh, and once again came away with the spoils, great credit
was due to this young squad, missing some regulars due to holiday
commitments, the younger members of the panel upped their game against
a very physical Ballyshannon side to maintain their 100% record, and
now almost guaranteed a final birth, next up is a home game against
McCumhaills on Thursday night.
U10 hurling training will take a short break and will resume on the
8th of August.
The club are helping out with street parade and pageant "Briciu's
Feast" in conjunction with Buncrana community artists and the
Inishowen Carnival Group which will take place on Wednesday night at
7.30 and will travel thought the streets of Buncrana culminating in a
feast at the Shore Green's, anyone able to participate especially
young skillful hurlers to help depict "Cuchuailanns" roll or help with
other parts as "Warriors" in the festivities, should contact Pauline
on 086 081 2429.
