Aodh Ruadh
~ FOOTBALL ~
Aodh Ruadh played host to East Tyrone side, Galbally in P√°irc Aoidh Ruaidh last Saturday. The Ernesiders had a good first half and went in on top at half time. Galbally took the honours in the second half in what was a match played in good, friendly spirit. Pictures of the exchanges can be viewed on aodhruadh.org
The reserves hosted Four Masters for a challenge in Father Tierney Park on early Sunday afternoon. There was a good display from a very young side which was augmented by a few Donegal town lads. Despite the lack of numbers Aodh Ruadh were only shaded by a point at the final whistle, a good result in trying circumstances. Some pictures >from the match are up on aodhruadh.org.

~ HURLING ~
Thomas Schillachi Gallagher's charges got their season off to an ideal start when they comprehensively defeated Fermanagh side, Knock Grattan's, 5-19 to 0-2 in the first round of games in Group 5A of the Ulster Hurling League. Check out aodhruadh.org for some pictures of the action. Next up for the seniors is a trip to take on Glencar / Manorhamilton on Saturday 13th April. That game throws in at 4.30pm.
Sunday morning last saw the start of underage hurling training for 2010. Over 70 young hurlers descended on P√°irc Aoidh Ruaidh, all keen to learn new skills. Training continues this Sunday at 12 noon for under 8s to under 16. We also had nine under 12 hurlers taking part in the all-county trials in Letterkenny where they all did very well. There will be further trials this Sunday and details will be passed on to lads during the week.
The fourth annual Hurlathon takes place on Saturday 27th March. Over the years this has been a great day of fun and a great fundraiser for the promotion and development of hurling in Aodh Ruadh especially, underage hurling. Anyone who wants to try their hand at our ancient game is welcome in the Mercy Hall from 10am to 10pm for a great days fun and sport.
