Donegal boss John Joe Doherty won't name his squad which will defend the Dr McKenna Cup until closer to Christmas. The Naomh Columba clubman is in no rush to pick his squad for the pre-season competition which gets underway in January. "I haven't looked at it yet," he said in the Irish News. "The players are working away on a strength and endurance programme at the minute. We'll be looking forward to getting back to action in the New Year. Last year, I announced the panel towards the end of December, so I'll probably do the same again." He added: "We didn't really go out to win it last year - that's just the way it panned out. We'll do the same again this year, it'll give us a chance to see a few players before the National League starts." Tweet
