A good number of members attended last Thursday evening's meeting in Ballybofey concerning the future of the structure of hurling within the county. It was a very informative meeting with Paul Kelly, the man who initiated the so far successful Armagh hurling pilot scheme. Hopefully the interest shown from all clubs within the county will provide our own county to follow in the steps Armagh has taken.
Carndonagh
The club AGM will be held on Sunday 29 November in the clubrooms at 7pm. As part of the 125 year there will be a Mass offered for all deceased members and players of the club in the Church of the Sacred Heart on Friday November 27th at 7pm.
The annual under-age presentation took place last Sunday at the Carndonagh Community School. Despite the very wet and windy conditions, one of the largest gatherings to date of parents, children and club members filled the school Áras to overflowing. The guest on the afternoon was Paul Callaghan who presented certificates and medals to the boys and girls. The slideshow with a myriad of photos covering matches and events over the year added to this uplifting club presentation. Thanks to all who put the presentation together, who officiated on the day, to those who decorated the hall and made the tea and sandwiches. Thanks also to CCS for the use of the Áras.
Foundation coaching course planned for Inishowen clubs in the near future.
Carndonagh Ladies football had their Christmas sale last Friday in the Colgan Hall. It was a big success, there were a lot of good quality items donated and I think everyone got a good bargain on the day. Thank You to the staff in the Colgan Hall for helping us to get set up, they were very accommodating. Thank you to the people who took the time to sort and donate their unwanted items without which the sale would not have been possible. Also thanks to the local shops who kindly donated items for sale and or the raffle, Mary Lafferty who sponsored a beautiful Christmas cake, McLaughlin brothers sponsored lots of prizes, Supervalu, Global Fashions, Gordons, Neil Doherty, Christy Doherty, McLaughlin Meats, The Salon, Brennan's Chemist and to Winnie McLaughlin and Patricia Doherty for their home baking. There were a lot of volunteers on the day who also played their part to make the sale a big success and with the funds raised we are well on our way to being able afford to buy a new kit for the girls underage team.

Tickets cost 25 and are available from treasurer Brigid Harkin. Popular local band the Cavanagh brothers will provide the music.
The underage equivalent of the dinner dance took place in Caislean Mara on Friday last when over 130 U12s enjoyed a presentation disco. A great night was had by all and presentations were made to the U10 A and B teams and a special presentations were made to Emma Doherty, Niamh Cavanagh and Joshua Lafferty who represented Inishowen in the Cumann na mBunscoil mini seven trials in MacCumhaill Park recently. If successful they will get the opportunity to play in Croke Park later in the year. We wish them well.
Going into last weekend we expected the footballing season to reach a conclusion with both the men's senior team and the ladies minor teams contesting finals. However in horrific weather conditions in both Saturday and Sunday both games ended in draws.
First up were the ladies minors on Saturday when they took on old rivals Termon in Raphoe. These two teams are the dominant forces in ladies football in the county and the outcome was always expected to be close. Moville played with a strong breeze in the first half and with Geraldine Harkin in top form at full forward the held a 5-5 to 2-3 half time lead. As expected Termon rallied with the wind in their favour and with the last kick of the game county U16 player Geraldine McLaughlin took the game to a replay with a fine goal.
The senior game v Milford was a similar affair but playing in horrendous conditions. The conditions became particularly difficult in the closing 15 minutes. Moville played with the breeze in the first half but it was Milford who struck the first blow with a point from a free. Moville settled and with Sean O'Hare hitting some fine frees they went in at the break leading by 0-9 to 0-2. Moville defended stoutly in the second half with goalkeeper Maurice McGeady commanding in the difficult conditions. It was a matter of trying to keep Milford from scoring and when they drew level with five minutes remaining it looked ominous for Moville. But the team defended stoutly from the half forward line back to eke out a draw.
It is expected that both replayed games will take place this weekend.
