Donegal secretary slams McIver treatment

Brian McIver
Donegal secretary Charlie O'Donnell has launched a blistering attack on two of the county's leading clubs who he has accused of hounding Brian McIver out of his post as senior football manager.
The Tyrone native stood down in September after a motion of no confidence in him was proposed by St. Eunan's, Letterkenny, and seconded by Gweedore. McIver was set to remain in charge for a fourth year, but wasn't prepared to continue unless he had the support of all clubs.
O'Donnell revisits the controversy in his report to county convention, labelling the treatment of McIver as "disgraceful".
He writes: "The manner in which Brian was treated during a county board meeting was nothing short of disgraceful.
"Two clubs, that between them had nine players on the county panel, sponsored a motion of no confidence in Brian. Brian, who had just completed his report to the county committee, felt that he had no option but to resign.
"Brian, who brought National League honours to the county for the first time in 2007, deserved better treatment that to be hounded out of Donegal.
"We wish to thank Brian, selector Michael Kelly, trainer and coach Ryan Porter and all the backroom staff for the dedication and commitment shown in 2008."
