Doherty to meet players
November 22, 2008
New Donegal manager John Joe Doherty will meet up with his squad for the first time this weekend and outline his plans for next year's campaign.
Doherty, who was installed as manager following a much publicised row between the county board and the Declan Bonner and Charlie Mulgrew combination is eager to meet his new charges.
The players are due to meet this morning (Saturday) to discuss who is available for the early season games in the Dr McKenna Cup.
"I have been in touch with a number of the lads and I am aware that a few of them are carrying knocks and injuries so the meeting is really to find out who is available and who is not for the Dr McKenna Cup," said Doherty.
"I also hope to lay out my stall for the year and Michael McGeehan will also give everyone their own personal training programme. Under the new rules we are not allowed to train in November and December, but Michael has a programme worked out and the boys will be able to work on their own before we get down to serious work after Christmas."
