Devenney readmitted to hospital

November 21, 2008
Brendan Devenney was readmitted to hospital this week for treatment on a punctured lung and a cracked rib. The Donegal forward suffered the injury during St. Eunan's Ulster club quarter-final win over Tyrone champions Clonoe three weeks ago and was immediately hospitalised, missing last Sunday's semi-final defeat to Crossmaglen as a result. However, he returned to hospital in Letterkenny on Tuesday. Devenney, who will turn 33 next month, has informed new Donegal manager John Joe Doherty that he will not be returning to the inter-county fold in 2009. Doherty, who is set to meet his new panel for the first time this weekend, said: "I have been in touch with the lads and a few of them are carrying knocks so the meeting is to find out who is available for the Dr McKenna Cup."
