Donegal case lodged with DRA

November 11, 2008
Declan Bonner and Charlie Mulgrew have submitted their application form and fee of EUR1,000 with the Disputes Resolution Authority. The duo were enraged by the process used to appoint their former team-mate John Joe Doherty as the new Donegal football manager, and are hoping to redress the situation by taking a case to the GAA's arbitration body. Bonner and Mulgrew are claiming they were not granted the fair procedures and natural justice that is the entitlement of all GAA members. It is believed that the legal team representing them has argued that the procedure for appointing the Donegal manager was flawed and unfair, and therefore represented a breach of the right of which members of the GAA are entitled. Bonner and Mulgrew are hoping that the DRA will rule that the appointment process was flawed, and will recommend that the procedure is conducted again by a new committee which could yet lead to them become joint-managers.
