Glenswilly devastated by Manus' tragic death

June 24, 2019

Manus Kelly RIP.

Glenswilly GAA has paid tribute to club member Manus Kelly who died in a crash at the Donegal International Rally yesterday.

The father-of-five was killed when his car left the track on Stage Three of the rally which was due abandoned. Manus, who was recently elected to Donegal County Council, was the defending champion, having won the last three stagings of the rally.

The tragedy has devastated the local community and cast a shadow over Donegal's Ulster SFC final victory over Cavan. Manus was a great GAA man and managed his local club Glenswilly to a county JFC 'B' success in 2016. He was a close friend of Glenswilly's most famous son, Donegal All-Ireland and Ulster winning captain Michael Murphy.

Glenswilly GAA posted on Facebook: "A son, a brother, an uncle, a husband, a father, a player, a manager, a sponsor, a gentleman, a friend, a cousin, a business man, a counsellor and the greatest sportsman and rallyman ever to grace our parish community and the county of Donegal.

"It's with deepest regret and sadness that we have lost one our clubs greatest Manus 'Mandy' Kelly."
