Yesterday's Donegal SFC clash between Gweedore and Bundoran in Ballybofey made a mockery of the theory that football in the county is overly-defensive, on a weekend when county champions Kilcar bowed out.

In what is believed to be the highest scoring game in the history of the Donegal SFC, Gweedore won on an incredible scoreline of 8-13 to 3-12. That's 36 scores or a cumulative tally of 58 points - one for nearly every minute played.

Gweedore led by 2-9 to 0-4 at half-time thanks to goals from Niall Friel and Daire O'Baoill. O'Baoill scored his second goal at the start of the second half and former county star Kevin Cassidy also hit the net for the winners before Timmy Hourihan replied for Bundoran.

Eamon Collum, Naoise O'Baoill, Cian Mulligan and substitute James Carroll raised further green flags for the Gaeltacht club, with Gary Clancy and Peter McGonigle accounting for Bundoran's other two majors.
