Declan Bonner's first year back at the helm of Donegal yielded an Ulster SFC title but the manner of today's Super 8 exit left him 'very, very disappointed'.

Bonner's charges succumbed to a strong second-half showing by Tyrone on home turf and he hopes they can learn from the experience in the future.

"We set out our goal at the start of the season to win an Ulster title and get into the Super 8s," he told RTE Sport.

"We had a lot of new lads coming in, but at the same time we're very, very disappointed with the way we've exited the championship in Ballybofey.

"It was a huge learning curve for a lot of the lads and hopefully they can come back stronger."
