Cavan "have loads of quality", says McFadden

Donegal's Hugh McFadden

Donegal midfielder Hugh McFadden says they'll need to be on top form if they are to avoid an upset against Cavan in Sunday's Ulster senior football championship opener.

The Breffni men are set travel to Ballybofey as 11/4 underdogs, despite having achieved promotion from Division 2 this past spring, and McFadden knows that Mattie McGleenan's charges possess the ingredients to inflict the Tir Chonaill County with a first championship defeat at MacCumhaill Park in seven years.

"Gearoid McKiernan, Dara McVeety, Cian Mackey and Ciaran Brady are all quality players and they seem to be playing some nice football at times," McFadden told The Irish News.

"They can kick scores from all over the field and I am sure they are going to work hard. We were unfortunate enough to be on under-21 teams that lost back-to-back matches to Cavan.

"They had a lot of good players and they won four Ulster titles on the trot, so they have loads of quality."
