Ballinderry book their place in SFC quarter-final in style

Ballinderry are through to the quarter-final of the Derry SFC when they totally outplayed a gallant Ballymaguigan side, winning a one-sided encounter on a scoreline of 3-21 to 0-2 on Tuesday, 28th of August. The winners dominated play from the start, and led at the interval by 0-13 to 0-1 - the Ballymaguigan point came from a pointed free by former county star, Gary Coleman. It was the same story in the second-half, with two early Ballinderry points from Ronan McGuckin and Colin Devlin before Ronan McGuckin netted for the winners first goal. They continued to force the pace, and in the end ran out facile winners by all of 28 points. The only downside to Ballinderry's win was a facial injury sustained by Kevin McGuckin in an accidental collision. Ballinderry scorers were - C. Gilligan 1-6, R. McGuckin 1-1, J. Bateson 1-0, C. Devlin 0-6, R. Wilkinson 0-4, M. Harney 0-2, M. McIver and Ronan Devlin 0-1 apiece. Ballymaguigan marksmen were - Gary Coleman 0-1 from a free and J. Murphy 0-1. Referee - S. McGuigan from Slaughtneil.
