Loup overcome Magherafelt in the SFC

Loup had a 0-12 to 0-9 win over Magherafelt in the Derry SFC game on, Thursday, 28th of June in a match where 14 of the 21 scores recorded came from frees. The winners were down by a single point at the interval 0-7 to 0-6 to score five unanswered points in the final quarter of the match to record a hard-earned win. Magherafelt had the better of the exchanges in the opening half - Loup's route one football not working against a well-organised Rossas defence. However, despite this dominance the Magherafelt side only turned round at the interval one point ahead. The Loup side upped their performance in the second-half and with Paul McVey and Paul McFlynn coming more and more into the game in the midfield sector they turned the game around and went on to record a deserved win. Former county captain, Johnny McBride scoring the insurance point from 60 metres in added time for the Loup side. Loup scorers were - S. McFlynn 0-4 from frees; Paul McFlynn 0-4 from frees; Paul McVey 0-2, S. M. O'Neill and Johnny McBride 0-1 apiece. Magherafelt marksmen were - C. Higgins 0-6 from frees; J. Monaghan, G. McKay and C.
