June 28, 2007
There were three SFC games played on, Wednesday, 27th of June with wins for the champions, Ballinderry, Dungiven and Ballinascreen. The Ballinderry v Banagher clash proved a one-sided affair with the scoreline reading 1-21 to 2-8 in favour of the Shamrocks. The champions had this game won in the opening half when they led by 0-12 to 0-2 with county stars Conleith Gilligan 0-5 and Colin Devlin 0-3 their main scorers - another county player Mark Lynch converting two frees for the Banagher side. It was much the same story in the second-half with Ballinderry upping the pace with Martin Heaney responding to a Kevin O'Neill goal for Ballinderry in the 45th minute. Gilligan finished the game for the winners with a personal tally of 8 points, with Colin Devlin on 0-6. Rory Colgan got in for a late goal for the Banagher but it made no real difference to the scoreboard. This was an impressive victory for the reigning county champions, and they have already laid down a marker for the rest of the teams in the competition.
