At the end of what was a well-contested and interesting Derry SFC game, Swatragh were deserving winners over Kilrea on a scoreline of 0-10 to 0-8. At the end of a close opening half Swatragh came back strongly after trailing by 0-3 to 0-1 in the opening quarter to finish the half ahead by 0-5 to 0-4. Kilrea started the second-half in determined fashion and went two points in front. However, Swatragh regrouped well and for the remainder of the game they held the edge to go on and win the game by two points. Swatragh scorers were - M. Kilpatrick 0-3, one free; M. Scullion 0-2 from frees; G. Turner 0-2, S. McNicholl, M. Friel and M. McKenna 0-1 apiece. Kilrea marksmen were - J. Kielt 0-2 from frees; P. Deigham 0-3, C. Kielt, L. Kennedy and E.
