ACFL Div 1: Dungiven 1-17 Greenlough 1-12 (20/05/12) - Seniors lose out to Dungiven in high scoring game
As with the Reserves, the Seniors hoped to build on their first win last week, when they visited Dungiven on Sunday 20th May.
The first half was a very close affair with the teams going point for point, as the gap between the sides never went above three in the opening thirty minutes.
A great Enda Lynn point on the turn opened the scoring in the first minute before Cormac O'Neill pointed from a free moments later. Three consecutive Dungiven points saw the home side take the lead for the first time by the eighth minute, before Enda hit his second in the tenth minute.
Again the sides traded scores, a second Cormac O'Neill free followed by Enda's third of the day, were cancelled out by two from Dungiven, before St Canice's took the lead again from a free. Enda Lynn's rasping shot was tipped over in the 21st minute, before he fired over yet again a minute later to give Greenlough the lead.
Another pointed free from Dungiven saw the sides level once more, before a fisted goal put them into a lead. However, as had been the case for the rest of the half, Greenlough responded immediately when Enda wriggled free from his marker and blasted to the net.
The home side hit back immediately with a point, only for Damien McTeague to level. Appropriately both sides pointed in the final minute of the opening thirty, to leave the sides level at the break; with Enda Lynn bringing his tally for the half to 1-6 with Greenlough's final score before the interval.
Half-Time: Dungiven 1-09 Greenlough 1-09
Things looked to have started in the second half as they finished in the first, when Niall Bradley firstly gave Greenlough the lead within forty seconds of the restart only for Dungiven to equalise moments later.
However, for the next fourteen minutes Dungiven opened up a lead of four points, which Greenlough would chase and be able to claw back for the remainder of the game. A point from play by Enda Lynn at the mid point of the second period, quickly followed by a pointed free from Cormac O'Neill saw the gap reduced to just two; but those scores would be the visiting side's last.
Three points in the next five minutes saw Dungiven mount an unassailable lead which Greenlough were unable to close, as the home side crowded men back into defence smothering any possible attacks from their opposition. After the promising first half, it proved an unfruitful trip up the Glenshane as Dungiven won by five.

ACFL Div 1 Reserves: Dungiven 1-13 Greenlough 1-10 (20/05/12) - Reserves fall to away defeat after Dungiven comeback
Having won their first league game of the year last week at home against Glen, Greenlough's Reserves hoped to keep the momentum going with their first points on the road when they faced Dungiven on Sunday 20th May.
A good first half from Greenlough saw them take a five point lead into the break, thanks to three points from Sean Mullan, two from Ryan Tohill, one from Enda McNally and a goal from Cathal McGurk after good work from Martin Henry. Dungiven could only reply with four points, three of which came from frees.
Half-Time: Dungiven 0-04 Greenlough 1-06
The second half didn't quite work as well for Greenlough. Initially the sides remained evenly matched, but after three points from Dungiven, the home side added a goal to bring the sides level. Four points from Ryan Tohill were all Greenlough had to show for the final thirty minutes, while a late run of points from Dungiven saw them win by three.

McGlinchey Cup: Greenlough 0-17 Castledawson 2-10 AET (16/05/12) - Seniors win by point after extra time
Greenlough hosted Castledawson in the Dean McGlinchey Cup Quarter-Final on Wednesday 16th May, the usually pre-season or mid summer competition which this year fell in the middle of a hectic league campaign. Due to this both sides fielded mostly Reserve players on a wet night at St Oliver Plunkett Park.
A pointed free from Enda McNally opened the scoring, before Castledawson hit five points in a row to take an early lead. Two Tiarnan Diamond points and a second Enda McNally point saw the gap cut to one, but almost immediately Castledawson found the back of the net to open up a four point lead again.
A third pointed free from Enda on the stroke of half time saw a goal in it at the break.
Half-Time: Greenlough 0-05 Castledawson 1-05
Three early points from Christopher Maguire, Fergal Clarke and Sean Mullan saw the sides level, only for Castledawson to reply with two to retake the lead by the tenth minute of the second period.
Five points in as many minutes from Cathal McGurk, Gary McPeake, Fergal Clarke, and two by Enda McNally then saw Greenlough take the lead with 13 minutes of normal time remaining; however this would prove to be the home side's final scores of normal time.
Castledawson had the sides level by the 26th minute with three unanswered points, but despite almost six minutes of injury time being played neither side could find a winner and so the game went to extra time.
Full-Time: Greenlough 0-13 Castledawson 1-10
The visiting St Malachy's made the perfect start to extra time when the scored a goal from a penalty, but a point from Enda McNally and a free from Gary McPeake saw the minimum between the sides at the break.
Extra Time Half-Time: Greenlough 0-15 Castledawson 2-10
As the pitch cut up even more and the legs got tired the game became very scrappy in the final period. Both sides had chances but Greenlough took theirs. Firstly Christopher Maguire brought the sides level with a point, before Fergal Clarke pointed the winner with three minutes remaining. Castledawson failed to get the ball into a scoring position in the last few moments and Greenlough held on to progress the semi-final of the competition they won for the first and only time in 2008.
Extra Time Full-Time: Greenlough 0-17 Castledawson 2-10
