Gillis expected to be back for Derry

Barry Gillis is expected to make a return for Derry's NFL clash with Mayo this Saturday night after a freak injury in the Oak Leafers previous outing against Kerry.

The Magherafelt goalkeeper was forced to leave the field of play at Austin Stack Park, Tralee after coughing and hurting his side and it was believed he my have torn a muscle, but an x-ray afterwards gave him the all-clear.

Meanwhile, manager Damien Cassidy has received mixed news ahead of choosing his team as experienced defender Kevin McGuckin is available for selection but luckless attacker has been ruled out for the rest of the season after tearing his cruciate knee ligament.
