Derry's family affair

Derry dual star Liam Hinphey
The family tradition within the GAA is alive and well in Derry after Oakleaf hurling manager James O'Kane included six sets of brothers in his squad.

James O'Kane has named two dual players in his squad for the forthcoming Allianz NHL campaign also as Liam Hinphey and Mark Craig link up with the hurlers also.

It is an unusual sight these days to see so many sets of brothers on a county squad and one that surely hasn't been rivalled too often in the past.

For the record the sets of brothers are Hinphey (Liam and Patrick), Craig (Mark and Liam), McCloskey (Darragh, Oisin and Ruairi), McCloskey (Conal and Aaron), Kelly (Gavin and Aaron) and Brunton (Diarmuid and Cathal).

On Sunday, the Oakleafers entertain Kerry in the opening round of the league and the last time the sides met, it was in the Christy Ring Cup and the Kingdom ran out winners by 15-points.
