Devlin absent from Ballinderry dugout
December 02, 2008
Ballinderry selector Paul Devlin was not on the sideline for last Sunday's drawn Ulster club football final against Crossmaglen, despite recently having an 18-month suspension lifted.
The former Tyrone star had his suspension lifted by the Ulster Hearings Committee on the grounds that he was not a member of the club and thus the Derry county board has no jurisdiction to suspend him for alleged incidents during October's infamous county final against Slaughtneil.
But after Ballinderry received a warning from Ulster Council last Friday, Devlin did not take his place in the dugout for the drawn clash and is unlikely to be involved either for next Sunday's replay.
During his successful appeal, Devlin claimed to be a member of a Tyrone club but, after consulting with Tyrone, Ulster Council warned Ballinderry not to include Devlin among their team officials because his status as a GAA member is still being investigated.
