Ballinderry uncomfortable with favourites' tag
November 19, 2008
Ballinderry forward Colin Devlin has admitted that he isn't comfortable with the fact that the Derry champions will be going into Sunday week's Ulster club final against holders Crossmaglen as favourites.
Ballinderry were highly impressive in their 0-17 to 0-7 trouncing of Cavan Gaels last weekend, and Devlin accepts that there will be an increased burden of expectation when they face a Crossmaglen side bidding to secure their third provincial title success on the trot.
"I just remarked that myself at the end when I looked at the score. You're nearly thinking that it was almost too big a score," he said.
"We got to this stage two years ago and they (Crossmaglen) just pipped us in a bad game on a bad day - but the best team won. It's a rematch of that and it's going to be tough.
"We know Crossmaglen and it'll be a fight to the end. There'll be no such thing as beating Cross' by five, six, seven, eight or nine points. It'll be a fight to the death and we'll have to be ready for that."
