Ballinderry expecting tough test
November 13, 2008
Ballinderry manager Martin McKinless is refusing to underestimate Cavan Gaels ahead of Sunday's Ulster club football semi-final at the Athletic Grounds.
The Derry champions have a proud tradition in the competition, but McKinless is extremely wary of Cavan Gaels, who were surprise but fully merited winners over St. Gall's in the first round.
"They play a hard type of football. They're a strong all-round team, and they've been around for a while," he said.
"They've won the last seven or eight county titles in Cavan, so they'll be a big stumbling block for us.
"It was a big win for them to get over St. Gall's because St. Gall's would've been regarded by some people as second favourites to win Ulster. I'm sure that win has allowed them to raise the bar higher again and I think this game will go down to the wire."
County player Colin Delvin is Ballinderry's only injury concern, having been troubled by an ankle injury since the county semi-final against Dungiven.
