Gilligan respects Gaels
November 06, 2008
Derry and Ballinderry star Conleth Gilligan has stressed that the Derry champions will give Ulster club SFC semi final opponents Cavan Gaels the respect they deserve on Sunday week.
The Cavan champions defeated former All-Ireland finalists St Gall's in Casement Park last weekend, which was a result that sent shockwaves through Ulster football.
Ballinderry face Cavan Gaels in the Ulster club championship semi final on Sunday week and Gilligan feels that the quarterfinal win over Latton eased the pressure on the Derry outfit.
"The pressure goes off a wee bit, but you don't know who you are marking or who you are playing against. When you're in your own county, everybody knows everybody else and who'll be picking everybody up," said Gilligan.
"Any team that can go to Casement Park and get a result against St Gall's deserves a lot of credit and respect, and we'll give them that. It's very much one step at a time and the next one is Cavan Gaels."
