Manager Mickey McShane accepts Slaughtneil will need to improve on their semi-final performance against Middletown if they're to win a third Ulster club SHC title in four years at Dunloy's expense next month.

“You like to play with a bit of swagger and play to your potential when you are winning but we didn't do that today,” McShane told the Irish News after yesterday's 1-17 to 0-8 semi-final victory over the Armagh champions at the Athletic Grounds.

“We are all disappointed about how we played, but it has been four weeks since we played in the Derry final. We had a challenge game and the lads have had football commitments so we haven't had that intensity of hurling.

"Hopefully today's game will stand to us, there are lots of things we can do better but on the positive side, we won by 12 points and we're coming back in two weeks' time to play in an Ulster final which is a step further than we went last year. So we'll take it.”
