Donegal 2-9

Backboned by members of the side that reached last year's All-Ireland minor final, Derry recovered from the concession of two first half goals to pip Donegal in a dramatic Ulster U20FC quarter-final at Healy Park this afternoon.

Goals from Peadar Mogan and Paddy Dolan helped Donegal - who were easy winners over Cavan in the preliminary round - to a 2-5 to 0-8 interval lead, but inspired by free-taker Jude McAtamney and Oisin McWilliams who scored 0-7 between them, the Oak Leafers fought back to set up a provincial semi-final against Down next Sunday.

Wing back Mogan's goal had Donegal 1-1 to 0-2 up after 12 minutes before the winners hit back with points from McAtamney and Ben McCarron. 

Donegal regained the lead through points from Niall O'Donnell and Dolan before the latter scored a brilliant individual goal in the 22nd minute. McAtamney, Callum Brown and McWilliams got points back for Mickey Donnelly's men, but they still trailed by three at the break.

Two points each from McWilliams and McCarron had the Oak Leafers in front by the 38th minute and they were never headed thereafter, despite Lorcan McWilliams firing a 48th minute penalty over the crossbar and McCarron receiving his marching orders six minutes later.

Dolan nailed a late '45 for Donegal, but they were unable to force extra-time.
