Agree with most of the posters here that a change of management needs to be at least considered and options looked at. I think if there isnt some improvement a level of apathy will creep in. It is a natural thing, if Meath are performing poorly then the publicity will be less and supporters have a lot of alternative things to do with their time and money. Some will continue to support come rain or shine but there will be others that will drop off. My worry is that with too much drop off the younger kids will not be exposed to the passion that is there in the county and will never get the bug.

If this deterioration continues then there is a chance of damage to the support base that will be very difficult to repair.

My concern would be,that MOD stays in charge,we go into next year and he continues to make the same mistakes.Wouldn't be good for his own sake,as fans might really turn on him and the group creating an awful atmosphere at games. Not sure they could deal with that.

We cant blame the fans one bit, there is a core group of 2k/3k that go to all the games myself included.
However these are the ones who are most annoyed with what is going on with management, i think the behind closed doors meeting at end of last campaign signalled a very worrying trend that seems to have happened within the upper structures of Meath football, i think they treating fans like mushrooms if you get my drift. There is anger amongst the die hard supporters that will only get worse unless something is done.

And to think we could have been playing sligo today with the winner playing Tyrone. Another year another missed run.

TRIM1 You are absolutely correct support will CONTINUE to drop off...Our senior team is the shop window in Meath for young players ,and something to aspire to. No doubt some will support no matter what, but for a lot of supporters to continue with more of the same is an insult to their loyalty and intelligence.

County board are advocating Micko to stay on but what would be the most likely championship finish for us next year with him in charge? Leinster quarter final loss, perhaps one qualifier win over a weaker side and lose round 3? It is hard to see any other outcome if there will be more of the same.

Tell you what lads make your call when we see how a Tyrone team who were lucky to.beat meath do next week... That result or really 2nd half was a freak v Westmeath. We will know next week where meath aware really at

I dont agree numberedjerseys, there is no more reason to say that Tyrone's current performances is Meaths level as to say the Westmeath's performances since they beat us is our level either. Tyrone people openly admitted that their win against us was after one of their worst performances of the year and that recent performances have been way better after the boost of the Meath result.

On the other hand Westmeath have actually performed worse in their subsequent games than they played against us.

So numberedjerseys to read anything into either of those counties performances is futile imho.

Tyrone have been fortunate with the fixtures they had, they have been unimpressive so far.So to lose to them while they have been unimpressive is no consolation.Monaghan could hammer them unless they improve.

keep micko not too many giving out about him at ht in the westmeath game, total collapse from all players in second 35, and go to tyrone away and win not too many have done that in champ, move on and quit the negativity.

I disagree Tyrone might have struggled over Meath as Donegal struggled to beat tyrone... of course Westmeath have been poor since as they are a poor side that got lucky breaks v Meath . What you are saying don't make sense. In my opinion as I stated Meath can be measured on how Tyrone do next week

If Meath had beat Tyrone (which they did not) I reckon you boys would be bigging up Meath chances v Monaghan next weekend and saying micko should stay.
I will wait till Sunday to declare if he should stay or go again IMO

That's what I think for what it's worth

Numberjerseys. Based on the 3 meetings between Meath and Monaghan under mod, i don't think anyone (even myself) would envisage anything other than another humiliating 15+ defeat. And furthermore Tyrone will will throw in the blanket to make a reasonable scoreline , but make no mistakes that is worst Tyrone team in 20 years, but sure if moral victories against the likes of teams like that is all you need to do a ostrich on it and think mod is doing anything right then away you go.

Numberedjerseys, my point to you above was highlighted in a glaring fashion yesterday. Cork almost beat Kerry, Kildare beat Cork quite easily and the Kerry annihillated Kildare. So I repeat my point that using various teams performances against other teams to determine where you are at is futile and quite silly really. Many other factors such as confidence, injuries, run of form, referreeing decisions etc come into play.

So any conclusions based on the upcoming Tyrone game are totally worthless. Meath have had plenty of chances to perform this year in both league and championship and have failed to do so. to use a possible Tyrone improvement to project them to be better than they have played is pretty futile stuff.

There is always something in it for someone. Last time Eamonn O' Brien was voted out by the clubs they done it as a protest vote against the county board. This time around they have nothing to gain by voting MOD out so they won't. Mark my words on this one it will be another season with him in charge and more of the same.

Yeah ziggy, and what's really sad is that the dogs in the street are talking about the specific agenda with regard this one.
