Ok then, if we decide to have the holiday period then this is what is should be. A holiday from ALL games not just championship. There is a push to complete the league program before the championship re-commences but one particular clubs second team have not been fixed in a competitive game either league or championship for 57 days. For the last number of years Meath have been playing matches round this time of the year anyway. If we announce holiday dates then lets be up front and stick to the dates and have no football. If we decide against the break then so be it also. Diego (Meath) - Posts: 1205 - 28/07/2014 15:47:58 1627387 Link 0 |

I see Dunshaughlin are playing Na Fianna in a league match on Sunday to decide who goes through to the league final. This is in the middle of the "holiday period" so one of these teams could be missing half their players. This makes the previous 12 league games meaningless should they lose this game for that reason. This is no way to run a competition. Either this is a holiday period free from ALL games or it is not. kingofclubs (Meath) - Posts: 321 - 28/07/2014 17:11:10 1627444 Link 0 |
What we have is not a holiday free period it is a championship free period. Some people just seem to love a good whinge. jackhackett (Meath) - Posts: 773 - 28/07/2014 18:25:35 1627514 Link 0 |
I retract my earlier comments. Its really bad form that there is a full round of games fixed for Sunday. Given it's the last round and there is plenty riding on the results it shows a lack of respect to players and clubs. The holiday period was technically phrased as "free from championship" but it goes against the spirit of the thing to throw these games in at this late stage. I was at the semi final of feis club played in my own club this evening I hard recognised summerhill team got talking to a few supports and they had lads booked holidays for this week presuming they had a bit of break and had 3 games fixed in this ''holiday period" surely the 2nd biggest competition in Meath deserves more respect than teams fielding vastly under strength teams and players deserve some respect as well Header33 (Meath) - Posts: 233 - 30/07/2014 21:52:39 1628757 Link 0 |
Header33 i know its off the point but how good were seneschalstown or did summerhill put out a weaken team. would Seneschalstown have a chance of winning the championship.just going by recent results their improving frogd60 (Meath) - Posts: 95 - 31/07/2014 11:50:17 1628864 Link 0 |
Frogd60 as I said summerhill seemed to have a very weakened team out for a semi final..as for seneschalstown I wouldn't be backing them for anymore than a quarterfinal place at best Header33 (Meath) - Posts: 233 - 31/07/2014 13:30:39 1628918 Link 0 |
