Ex Monaghan I think.. Played with cilles for a while and involved with their successful underage set-up.

Thought I'd bump this, any stand out performances of the round? No big surprises looking at the results. Ratoath look very strong judging by that scoreline! Ultans any use this year?

Ratoath would have to be the stand out performance considering ultans have a perfect league record, also cilles had a good win thought that one wud be closer, syddan drew with nobber they must be decent this year..trim off to a good start but that was closer then the score line suggest's..ratoath's to lose

lads trying to build ratoath up again I see.... relax! ultans are no use at all! div 3 is not a good barometer at all.

I don't think Ratoath need any lads to build them up, their performances on the pitch so far in league and championship speak far greater volumes than anyone on here.

Castletown had a comprehensive victory against a saint michaels side that can only improve.
No major surprises, Ratoath won well against Ultans and will definately be the team to beat.
Back to reality for the promoted sides, Drumabaragh beaten by Trim easily and similiar result for Kilmainham. Both teams were without players but the harsh reality in Intermediate versus junior is that you cannnot get away with missing players as the oppostion is always stronger.

what odds are Trim? according to Meath chronicle they are one of the favourites
With Dalton at the helm, I expect a far better campaign this year.

According to Paddy Power, Trim are joint third favourites with Castletown at 8/1. St. Colmcilles are second favourites at 7/1. Ratoath are ridiculous 6/5 favourites.

Whatever about being favourites, those odds are insane with just one round finished.

They are very short all right. But the bookie is normally right. From what Ive seen so far this year, it will take a very very good side, playing excellent to beat a ratoath team having a bad day at the office while missing a few regulars!!

I was at the game and whilst Ratoath were slow to get going when they did, they completely blew Ultans away! Ultans should be fine but no chance of going up from what I seen.

Buzzing after attending 6 games over the weekend.

Started Sunday with a 12 midday start for ratoath ultans.

Ratoath very strong without being awesome. Struggled in some sectors. Wallace, Power McMahon & C McGill were good enough. Fullback was roasted. Ultan's very physics & hit harder (and fairer) than any of the 4 senior games I attended & this was probably the only surprise from Ratoath's point of view that they took the hits well all day. Brian Power in particular seemed to love mixing it.

It says in the HS report that Stephen O'Brien was replaced for the black card but he wasn't they played the last 5-10mins with 14 men. Can you do this?
Dunshaughlin threw Kells game away on Friday letting in 4 goals.

Saw Curraha on Saturday & can't see anyone stopping them at junior, even without McGovern or Dowling they destroyed Kilbride.

dunderry looked good for periods against longwood as evidenced by coming from 5 points down with a man sent off mid way through the 1st half to win by 1. 2 minor players stood up and were counted for. young side, unsteady in defence at times though, definitely a team for the future.

6/5 for Ratoath is ridiculous ,No way should they be so short
Barry has them flying fit and after 20 mins Ultans got tired and ratoath tacked on a few more scores
2dn half same pattern emerged but Ultans stopped working after a while

Brian Daly came on for Stephen O Brien after he got the black card

Think Castletown and Ballinabracky wont think much of these odds

Is it true that Ratoath are losing 5 or 6 of there regular starters for the summer to America? If so that could have a huge impact on there chances of winning the championship outright.

Royal Martin, I dont know what Ratoath game you were at but it clearly wasnt the one in Walterstown at the weekend!!
Ultans hit harder and fairer, yet finished with 14 men due to a red card??

Full back was roasted, yet full forward managed 1 point all game and touched the ball barely a handful of times!!

Ratoath played last 5-10mins with 14 men yet Brian Daly replaced O' Brien for the last 3 mins after the black card was issued!!

7 starters and a sub I heard. Apparently 7 past and current county men between minor, u21 & junior.
Usually not much championship played between June and August though.

That's some mathematics right there. Think that still leaves 7

Odds like what have been quoted here are nothing short of crazy. Lot of football to be played, its quite insulting on any of the teams who have a chance. In my opinion, any of the following have a decent chance of lifting silverware:
Ratoath, Saint Colmcilles, Castletown, Ballinabrackey, Michaels, Syddan and Nobber.
Nothing extra special about any of them, but on their day could click and any of these teams could beat the other.

ratoath are far too short to win it outright. however, they were great value at 1/5 to beat ultans at the weekend
