Oberthehill. We were also at least 10 point better than Westmeath, I hope your right but I am worried particularly after what happened v Cavan and Galway, two games we should have won, and yes there is speed there Richie but stamina is the main problem, midway through second half and the lads seem dead on their feet, that's the time we need subs that are as good as what's on the team, good news bob that mod wasnt taking the session that can only be a positive

One other thing heard Flynn on radio today saying that meath cb had launched a objection to game been played and Parnell and wanting in moved to navan but Louth won't agree to navan (they right not to) and likelihood is either tullamore or portlaiose.

yeah I would prefer travel to Port Laois or Tullamore rather than have it in Parnell

why not play the game in clones or Breffni Park? louth wont want to play in PT-Parnell Park too small- Tullamore and Portlaoise too far away for both counties-OK both venues are in Ulster but if I recall correctly-an Ulster final was once held in Leinster ( Croke Park Tyrone v Armagh)

82300 , think it has something to do with having to play in provincial grounds, croker is seen as neutral as its hq , so it has to be a provincial ground.

Meath played Louth in a qualifier in Breffni in 2011 I think.

That's correct, grand day it was too at a fine venue. Fixing this game for Parnell Park is almost as crazy as putting Dublin and Laois in Nowlan Park. No harm to Parnell Park but it's a tight restrictive ground and getting in and out of the place is a disaster, getting a bus in should really be considered if the game stays there because driving in the whole way will be problematic and there will be a big crowd at this match, Meaths first game and Louth in good form with real momentum, Parnell Park is becoming more unsuitable as time goes on and personally I'd rather travel to Tullamore for this one

No IC (Ulster) games scheduled for Breffni park either on the 12th June. Would holding the game outside Leinster have any effect on where the money (gate receipts) go?

I wouldn't have thought Louth would mind playing us in Navan, ok it's an almighty kip but it's convenient for both teams and unless I'm mistaken Louth have a decent record in Navan, and we're shaky no matter where we play.

Anyway to the game itself, hand on heart I think it's 50/50, we probably have the better players (not by much though) but we're as weak mentally as you'll find in anywhere in country. Louth will be up for this as they always are when they play Meath and if they kick on with 10-20 mins to go that's this Meath team finished, they just don't seem to have any fight in them and management stands there looking into the middle distance, which doesn't help.

Htaem this is Louth's record in Navan since the qualifiers came out in 2001. Louth has played 12 championship matches in Navan. They have won four matches, drew two matches and lost six. They have a win rate of 33%.

Fair enough OLLIE, from a practical point of view I understand Louth not wanting to hand home advantage to another team. I just though Louth's record in Navan was a bit better, certainly the last time they played Meath in Navan (NFL 2012, I think it was) it was a great day for the the Wee county.

Anyway Parnell Park it is, so we'll look forward to that one, should be a cracking match, Louth v Meath usually is.

IF, as rumoured team preparation has been modified ,and belief ,fitness, spirit, teamwork have been addressed from last year then we could have every chance against Louth. I had it confirmed from a critic who attended that the recent match against Donegal did show some basics were receiving attention, and thus some reasons to be more optimistic. In that case better late than never. One game at a time from here.

Louths record has improved as the decade when on. Their last defeat in Navan in the Championship was to Offaly in 2005. Since then they drew with Tyrone in 2006, beat Kildare in 2010 and beat Westmeath in 2012.

Some of Louths best moments in the last 10 years have been in Navan..

This will be a banana skin...

Louth have winning form and momentum.

People seem to have forgotten Meath stuttered passed Wicklow last year before capitulating against Westmeath..

Smell the coffee..Louth don't need a reason.. putting this game in Parnell Park is exactly what they want. It's already in the heads.

I don't trust this team to do a job..

Yes they trained in Dunshaughlin at 10am yesterday morning. All bar Ashbourne and summerhill players from what I could tell

id love this game to be in portlaoise, lovely ground, on a motorway so very handy for louth and meath, all louth have to do is go down to the m50 and take the m7 id say an hour and a half would get them there. plus its a very good ground for meath so many great wins there, please god its in portlaoise

Meath will win. No question about this and no disrespect to Louth either. The last few weeks have been excellent and also they are performing very well in challenge matches. Fitness seems to be top class (like all inter county teams should be). I just thing Meath will have way too much scoring threat, pace and power for an ever improving Louth team. Everyone is going on about Louth have an additional incentive due to what happened in 2010, what about the Meath players were harshly tarnished due to this also.

Expect a cracker of a game but Meath wont lose this one. If their heads are right which i think they are we will do well.
