The Leitrim senior football championship final will see one of the most experienced managers in Gaelic football patrol the sideline.

Former Fermanagh manager Dominic Corrigan has guided Ballinamore Sean O’Heslin’s to this year’s county final where they will be underdogs against Glencar/Manorhamilton.

Corrigan has managed at all levels from underage, club, county and colleges, so his experience will be invaluable this weekend.

This will be their first county final since 1998 when they lost to Melvin Gaels and they haven’t won it since 1990, although they still sit top of the roll of honour list with 20 titles.

Their opponents last won the title in 2011 when they completed a four-in-a-row, but they lost three consecutive finals from 2015 to 2017.

Corrigan has urged his players to embrace the challenge that lies ahead and enjoy the occasion.

“Breath in, drive it on, use it to inspire yourself – you couldn’t have put it better, that is exactly what I will be doing,” Corrigan told the Leitrim Observer.

“I would always feel having been involved in county finals before, I would use that great buzz and excitement that is around the village or town or parish or whatever it is as energy for the team.”
