Having just completed his 17th season for the Laois senior footballers, Ross Munnelly produced a vintage performance at club level recently.

Munnelly lined out for his club Arles-Kilcruise in the Laois senior football championship last weekend and scored 2-06 as they secured a draw against Ballylinan.

The 2004 Leinster SFC winner scored 1-03 of his tally from play and his converted penalty in the ninth minute of added time at the end of the game secured the draw.

The 36-year-old is the top scorer in the Laois SFC at the moment with 2-13 to his credit, one point ahead of county colleague Evan O'Carroll.

There is no doubt that Munnelly has etched his name in the annals of Laois GAA history and who knows, we could yet see him in the county jersey for another year.

Meanwhile, county champions Portlaoise were given a stern test by last year's IFC winners Courtwood, but they managed to hold on for a 1-13 to 1-07 win to keep their charge for a three-in-a-row going.
